Download either wings3d ( http://www.wings3d.com ) or Anim8tor ( http://www.anim8or.com ). Both of these FREE modelers allow easy convertion between 3ds and obj file formats. wings seems the best as anim8or somethings places weird extra polygons where i dont need them. Have fun Zanny
