I feel the same argument goes for the magazine as well because so far the themes have all been biased towards a render package. I for one couldn't have entered the cover comp where we had to use a 'seed' image at all...
Not true at all :)
The magazine is filled with many 2D articles - In upcoming issues there are articles by 2D artists, Cartoon Artists, and Photographers.
As to the "seed" inspired Magazine Cover Contest - I do not understand the problem using one of the seeds within a 2D format. Basically the "seeds images" could be used as texture. These could have been used within 2D artistic work very easily. As to a cartoon format - couldn't you have used one of the seeds as a clothing texture? Any of them would have made a colorful shirt, shorts, or hat :)
As for Poser being featured within the Cover Contest - well to be honest that is just the numbers! Of the 124 entries to the last Cover Contest only a handful did not feature a Poser figure. This becomes a catch 22. If you really want a non-poser Magazine Cover - enter a Non-Poser image to the Contest :)
For the last Cover Contest, All the Mods posted the cover contest to their forums (both 3D and 2D). Very few 2D artists entered the contest, and the majority who did enter - decided to use a Poser figure within their entry.
As to the New Renderosity Logo Contest - This is an excellent opportunity for 2D as well as 3D artist! I can think of several wonderful ideas for new Rosity Logos, and None of them have anything to do with 3D art! All have to do with color and design!
Hey, you cannot win a contest, unless you enter :)
So give it a try!
