Hi, thanks for looking into it. Just my opinions regarding the points you raised - and I know you've probably heard them 1,000 times before :) ... 1) New members are not always new at cg art. So, when they first join they like being able to populate their galleries rather quickly. * OK, but one a day would allow a 30 image gallery to be built within a month, which to me seems pretty fast. 2) Limiting how many images a member post in specific galleries only harms the members that only use one type of software . * I only use one type of software ;) but if I created 3 images in a day believe me, they'd be crap, because I'd rushed them. Unless a person can produce 1095 quality images per year (nobody can) then a reduction in the number / day seems very logical. 3) In each gallery category there is a "whats new", so you don't have to view images from other galleries if you are only interested in 3ds max. * Yes, this is fine if you're actually looking at the Maya or 3DS galleries (for example) because they grow so slowly, but put an image into the Bryce gallery on a weekend and it'll be gone from Bryce page 1 within 3 hrs. 4) there is a "How many image" setting, so you can see 18 images at a time instead of 12 (I keep my at 18) * I keep mine at 18 too, that's what I mean when I talk of a page. Multiply this by 50% for people with 12/page! :o 5) Many members do not even post 3 images a day, so limiting to just 1 image post a day really harms new members most or members that have just branched out into using a new peice of software and want or need a lot of feedback. How many members prefer being limited to only 1 post a day? Most people when asked don't like the limits...even if they don't post more than 1 a day. * I realise this, but the needs of established members need to be balanced with those of the new members. New members are "new" for a few weeks. Established members are here for many years. And I really can't see how allowing 7 uploads a week will restrict anybody to an unreasonable extent. Also, I would be extremely surprised to find that anyone who posted 3 images in a day ever got any useful feedback on those images in terms of comment quantities. The people who get 10, 20, 30+ comments are those who have spent a long time planning and creating their picture. And most people don't like limits... well, there is a limit now - 3 images. So it's not a case of introducing a limit, but modifying the one that's there. And just some points of my own... 1) It seems that the current set-up favours people who spend little time composing an image. It is very depressing to spend days - or weeks, in the case of some people - creating an image only to have it buried under numerous default-Vickys that took 10 minutes to create, or 3 versions of the same WIP image with a dozen pixels difference in each one. If preference should be given, surely it should err on the side of those people that put more into their work. 2) As far as new members are concerned surely they would get better feedback on an image where they'd taken their time rather than 3 images that they'd banged out on default settings. They'd improve faster too. 3) Restricting the number of uploads can only improve the quality of the galleries. People will take more care, or only pick their best pieces. On top of this, images will get more comments as they will be in view longer, and this will benefit all members via better feedback. 4) If feedback really is an issue for new members then why not limit certain galleries and not others? For example, don't put a limit on the Beginners gallery. 5) Rendo is getting more members by the day and the galleries are moving faster and faster. Clearly the 3 image rule can't be maintained for ever, so why not change it before it gets to be a real problem? There are two camps here. One, people who post many images per day and don't want to post less, and the other, people who take a lot of care and pride in their pictures and would like them to get a reasonable exposure before vanishing into the archives. Either way - 3 images or 1 image - people are going to be displeased, but the former set of people can solve their own problems by either taking longer over their images or only posting their best. But what can I - and others - do to solve the problem WE have? Nothing. Which makes it slightly unfair IMO.
