Bloodsong has the most likely answer. The human eye adjusts perfectly to voluntary head movements, but doesn't know what to do with accidental skull moves caused by chewing. Also, some monitors get wiggly and wavery when a speaker or other magnetic source is nearby. The changing electromagnetic field (caused by the music) pulls and pushes the CRT's electron beam.
