Here's a post that I think you all might be interested in. It's written by another Mod... AgentSmith in the Bryce forum....just his opinion and one that I agree with if I must say.... AgentSmith says: *I have been on the side of NOT to change the limit. Hear me (my opinions) out...(and be sure to read the ending) It may seem like the the quality would go up, and not to be mean-spirited, but I just don't believe it will. Restriction will most likely not make members upload more quality pics, but go somewhere else where they can upload ALL their pics, and eventually we will lose them as members. The "quality" idea is great...but most people take the path of least resistance, and they will find a site that fits THEM, not the other way around. You may say "so what, let'em go", but on my side as a Mod, that's a not good at all. To increase the quality of uploads, we would have to review all uploads and pick only the good ones (like www.raph.com). That will not happen. We will also NOT be creating a number limit of pics you can have in your gallery, ever. That has already been decided on. (quite quickly) Facts: I have looked at the "All" gallery for a 24 hour period (Monday). From what I have seen, the majority of pics that were uploaded were NOT from multiple pic uploaders. Of course, not all Mondays are created equal, but I had to sample from somewhere. Fact: The majority of Poser users, don't upload more than a pic a day, it's just that there are a LOT of Poser users uploading. Some definitely do upload more than 1 a day, but restricting those 1 or 2 dozen or so, will not truly slow the daily average that much. Now, any daily/weekly restrictions will have SOME effect on traffic, but just not to the extent I think some of you are hoping for. Here are the galleries, and their average number of daily uploads they recieve. (as of right now) Poser...........180 Fractal..........68 2D...............63 Bryce............57 Photography......54 Terragen.........31 Vue d'Esprit.....17 3D Studio Max....12 Cinema 4D........10 Digital Comics....9 Lightwave.........8 Mojoworld.........5 Other.............5 Everything Else..44 Total daily average (as of right now) = 563 uploaded pics. As far as I can tell, if the restriction of only 7 images per week with a 3 limit per day was to take place. The total number of daily pics could then hover around 350-400 pics a day average, which still equals 19 to 22 pages of thumbnails. (based on 18 thumbs per page) which is still enough to bury your upload in 90 minutes. *Every day will be different in traffic/volume, so read/take that with a grain of salt. BUT...now, that I have all that off my chest, lol. let me say this; The staff here are also members. We're here to take the (sensible) suggestions of you guys and gals, and put them into effect for your (our) site. And, if it seems that the majority of you want to try on the restrictive upload idea (and most of the ones of you who speak up seem to do), then that will reflect in how the staff makes their decision. Basically, I may have my doubts, but if y'all wanna try it, lol...I can get behind it for that reason, and help make it work. `Cause if the decision does go through, my nay-saying isn't going to do any good, lol.
