The stock hair models are more like helmets. They were not built with transmaps in mind. Several of them have a rats nest of points inside the head which add nothing to the model, but make mapping all but impossible to do for transmapping. Most trans mapped hair is mapped while it is still a 2D sheet and then shaped. The mapping is not an after thought. Often, they are made of subunits that are duplicates before shaping.
