I have Painter 3D but no longer use it. I don't think Corel has done anything with Painter 3D ... and compared to other 3D paint tools Painter 3D's features aren't as hefty. Other apps that let you paint on 3D objects are ZBrush (tricky interface and not as simple to use, but it works), Body Paint (haven't tried it), and Deep Paint 3D (excellent, but pricey).
