Yes you can upgrade from Painter classic.(You can also find the upgrade for $120.00 by doing a little searching) I tried the demo of Painter8,and while the functions are pretty much the same as my Painter7...the interface has been changed to a very "Photoshop like"layout.This is going to make it alot easier on new users.
