Nature abhors a straight line...saying that, Isnt the goal in 3d to create models and images that are as close to real life as can be? If you look at something that is perfectly seamless in all areas wouldnt it scream "fake" no matter how good the textures themselves were? Its like a perfect face, its beautiful but it has no character so to speak, but a blemish will make the faces beauty stand out all that much more. Just rambling here, damn coffee.....:P
