For Poser the female model of choice is Victoria. She's currently on Version 3. For more information on her, check out her manufacturers website (Daz3d) I believe Judy is the name of the new female character in Poser 5 (but I could be wrong, I've got Poser 4) so if I'm right, you've already got her. Why so many character texture packs? Because people don't neccessarily want to make their own, but they don't want all their female characters to look identical. You're lucky to have Maya and Poser 5, hope you have lots of fun with them :-) If I were you, I'd load them up and start playing. You could also try checking out the relevant art galleries if you want to see what you can do with the programs, or the Poser and Maya forums which deal almost exclusively with their programs.
