Subject: Yoda, where for art thou, Yoda?

Hiya. Been trying to find a Yoda figure, but Warrior's and L-Dragon's are gone poof. I tried to go to 3dGladiators, but the site is just a redirect. Can anyone help, or are my jedi forever without a master? ;^

There is a Yoda figure here, but he is in 3ds format. Genny

Mine was only a Mimic update, anyway. I could send it to you, but it's useless without WarriorDL's files.

lynnJonathan's Goblin (in the Marketplace) or DAZ's Gremlin might make a good base for a Yoda character.

Or you could try Poserizing one of the meshes at Sci-Fi 3D for your own personal use. Jay Hosfelt has a Yoda model there in .3ds and .obj formats.

I have a Yoda sitting here that I haven't finished out yet. Let me finish the cloak tonight and I will have up for you.

This is a render of the Yoda out of Poser4. I am going to clean up the materials in the cr2 and obj a bit before releasing it.

Les says that the Robe was originally being developed as dynamic cloth for P5, but to get it out tomorrow for you it was changed to a conforming figure.

That isn't the best angle in the shot, but I am half asleep right now. :)

It's late(or early depending on how you think of it) but here is another shot of the little guy using mostly proceedural texturing in Poser5. For my own amusement he is.. hmmm.. yes.... backwards sentences it makes one wish to speak in.. hmm.... :)

sixus1 ( ) posted Thu, 29 May 2003 at 5:22 AM

oh yeah.. he has a few facial morphs, a rough full body morph on the cloak to help it fit alittle better and the light saber is pretty darn acurate to the one he uses in 'Clones and has a morph for activating/deactivating the blade. FYI: building 3D models of star wars characters has been a hobby of mine for the last 5 years or so, so I have a pretty serious library of old figures just itching to be Pose-a-fied... now if only time I had... yes... hmmm... Very cool. Have you seen the "digital Yoda" documentary on the Episode 2 DVD? Lucas put the ILM team through the grinder just to get his facial expressions right for one scene.

That Yoda is wonderfull!!!!!!!!!!! I would be interested in it as well. Does it have and ETA??

sixus1 ( ) posted Thu, 29 May 2003 at 2:52 PM

Man, I have watched that documentary probably a hundred times or more already! In fact, I think I'm going to put that on right now because its just cool! ETA: later this evening. Rebekah is working on cleaning a pile of unused texture nodes in the cr2 before sending it up. Trust me, you'll be glad she did. She's taking a break right now to nurse a migraine though.

WONDERFUL, great job! love the extras on the DVD also, really shows what ILM goes through and I thought it all could be done in Poser, yeah, right. hahahaha!

Funny thing is that IMO you might not be able to all that in Poser but with version 5 I've had some results that are creeping closer and closer to true film quality effects. It just takes a lot of patience, same as it would in the "high end" packages. For what it's worth though, having a solid knowledge of Maya totally helped in getting the most out of Poser5. I swear it seems like a lot of the program was directly inspired by Maya. Just my opinion though.

Freakin' awesome Yoda! Thanks so much for taking up the Jedi Quest! I'm sure all SW fans that are here will appreciate your effort and hard work. Will he work in Poser 4?

sixus1 ( ) posted Fri, 30 May 2003 at 2:07 AM

Yep. The version that Rebekah has packed up has been retrofitted for P4. If anyone out there is interested, I'll offer up some proceedural shaders for P5 later on.
