:) More like thirty. Frazetta knew better than to let them play with swords. I would love to see a piece of serious art, however neglected, more than 100 years old, that features a naked, buff bimbo w/sword, in T.

How bout going back 32,000 years. Naked Neanderthal woman with a bone club in a cave. :o)

Quoting:
Naked Neanderthal woman with a bone club in a cave.

  1. Show me.
  2. "Neanderthal" does not qualify as "buff."
The whole point of the Vickie/Vallejo silliness is the completely inappropriate nudity. If you were going to fight a poisonous, armor-plated, flying ten-foot iguana, would you do it in a gold lame bikini with a sword from Fredrick's Weaponne Boutique? How come NV's always go into battle with protection on boobs and pubes, but not belly and femoral artery?
  3. A "bone club" does not qualify as a "sword."
The typical NVST sword is a cumbersome Baroque piece of plastic (if it were metal, even Arnold couldn't lift it). I love the spindly NV's toting dual-blade battle axes with more surface area than a full breastplate. Those things weight what? Thirty pounds? You want to see how two-handed swords work, watch the duel of champions in El Cid. Vallejo "weapons" remind me of the flinching Amazon bimbo in the first battle scene of Red Sonja. "Ewwww! He hit my sord!"
  4. A "cave" does not qualify as a "temple."
That's a quibble, though, because most NVST temples do not qualify as "temples" either. NVST temples are generally architectural impossibilities with only one function--providing a backdrop for the T&A show. As near as I can tell, a "temple" in a NVST is just a glorified feed lot.

In all fairness, naked males committing mayhem is a venerable artistic tradition, so I guess we could see NVST's as a blow for femininism....

Yeah, right.

Well, if you wanna get technical. 1. If I can find a Neanderthal morph for vicky, I would 2. Who knows, maybe in another neanderthal's eye, NeanderVicky is "buff". Keep watching the discovery channel, they might unearth something. 3. Give them a break, prehistoric technology didn't permit them to have swords, so maybe the closest weapon they ever had resembling a sword would be a club made of bones. 4. Some cave drawings suggest that prehistoric human might have had the tendency to worship some form of spirit, and what better place to do the worshipping in than in a cave, which was probably the only dwelling available at the time. Well, I am not going to elaborate on the "Feminism" thing. I hate worms, but not as much as the couch. JV

If I can find a Neanderthal morph for vicky, I would Ah, but you won't, because that morph doesn't come with the Beastmaster pack. Makes the clothing look all funny, so I've been told. :) >> Some cave drawings suggest that prehistoric human might have had the tendency to worship some form of spirit And artifacts as well: women with really big hips (fertility symbol, no doubt)... but I doubt they used as much makeup. :)

actually go to greco roman art from that time period and you will see the all sorts of activities naked. including the olympics. which were performed nude. so actually the basis of naked in the temple is actually ages old as it was depicted in egyptian art as well as greco roman and grecian. just to name a few. they may not have had swords{though some has spears}. but they were naked in temples and in fields and in sports. :) Though I agree battle armour that is gold lame is usless. but after all this is fantasy. Though RDNA has a great female warrior texture that has scars and such that is more realistic then the fredriks of hollywood nymph in armour look. If you wish to get reallllllly technical you can do research and find that many woman in the ancient temples were "scantaly clad" or naked specially in the fertility temples. ;)

And the Olympics were pretty much guys only. But yer right: it's all just fantasy. 'Course, I kinda wish the fantasy was slightly more grounded in reality sometimes.

DarkElegance ( ) posted Fri, 30 May 2003 at 12:47 PM

and if you wish to get a real good dose of fantasy art...go to the egyptian temples where it is depicted men and woman engaged in sexual acts with blue lotus blossoms{believed to be the ancient viagra} and some are depicted with several feet long phalises. Fantasy art and exctremes there of have always been with humans. {I have to go back to the site but I know there are greco roman depictions of the woman in the olympics as they use to run naked in the races} now -that- is impractical! then again it was noted many times that amazones also cut off the breast of their sword arm...we dont see that in renders either. but again it is fantasy art. it is what they mind creats for enjoyment or the perception of beauty.

Well, sure, there's nekkid all over classical art. We weren't talking about just naked, just swords, just temples, or even just bimbos, but about the "ancient tradition" of showing naked bimbos wielding swords in temples. If that "tradition" is more ancient than the sagging skin ubder Boris' chin, I'd be very surprised. And yeah, my serious point, under the fun, is that I want more concessions to reality in my art. Women with weightless watermelons on their chests do nothing for me, and i do not feel even vaguely menaced by Goth bimbos wielding soul-stealing demon blades. The world has way too many soul-stealing demon blades in it anyway; let's hear it for a nice sharp, solid Claymore. Enough with the Calvin Klein models in chic armor, Ok? I just saw the movie "version" of Mists of Avalon last week, with its howlingly unlikely Beverly Hills 900whatever Arthur, Gwen, and Lance. No more Versace armor. It's about as appealing as Pat Boone singing "Smoke on the Water." No more swords too heavy to lift and too unbalanced to swing. Likewise armor with hooks and fillips and geegaws just made for snagging in a fight. If "fantasy" means "anything I want," it's pretty pointless. Extrapolation is a lot more interesting. And reality is a lot harder to create.

DarkElegance ( ) posted Fri, 30 May 2003 at 3:57 PM

I cant help but chuckle as one of my biggest gripes about vicky is her lack of "real" breast that move like real breast. though V3 is better. I do understand what you are saying, it is just that so many make it sound as if it is bad. Like I said RDNA has a wooooonderful warrior female texture that is about as real as you are going to get to a battle worn female. but it leads us back to the point of the fact that reality is not always the thing for "art" most think art has to be text book beautiful. and as I pointed out the amazons..and look what the response was. it would not seem as "beautiful" to see a one breasted battle scarred woman sweaty and bloody in leathers. art is the perception of the creators idea of beauty and appealing. but the very unreal vision of a lush voluptouse curvy perfect blonde in full make-up shimmering in the light of battle wielding the every glowing blade of glory while wearing a g string...seems to be forever popular. {I honestly can not see a woman in battle trying to get her g string to stop ripping into her rump though} trust me if I was in battle my breast and butt would be the very last thing open to a weapon. it is old school {if you will} to do nudes...to do fantasy. the sword thing I think is fantasy and empowerment mix. and if you wish to see good medevil settings watch the lion in winter. old movie but lordy it does the castle justice! rushes on the floor and all.:) {and pleaaaaaaase no more of making up think of pat boone singing smoke onthe water please}

the woman in the olympics as they use to run naked in the races Different festival. I forget what it's called, but it was the annual festival to celebrate Athena as the "house goddess" for Athens. The Olympics were really men only.

"If you were going to fight a poisonous, armor-plated, flying ten-foot iguana, would you do it in a gold lame bikini with a sword from Fredrick's Weaponne Boutique?" That's an easy one to answer :) you go into battle covered in armour the iguana is going to attack straight away, but if as in most cases Vicky goes in the "gold lame bikini" the iguana will be so stunned by this vision of lovelyness that she can get in the killer blow before he realises what's happened.

DarkElegance ( ) posted Sat, 31 May 2003 at 11:47 AM

I still get visions of the gold lame clad vicky in battle screaming when she breaks a nail. hehehehhe and I am sure those gladiator woman didnt wear a g string into the arena.

How about this lady .. I'm not done postwork yet, but figured I'd whip her out for this debate. As far as her outfit .. no not practical in the slightest, especially that weird handlebar breastplate thing. Frankly if you made an accurately dressed person for that time/climate you could leave out the model entirely as everything would be covered. Oh, and I will be putting in proper cross gaitered (gladiator style) sandles eventually And yes .. this is a shameless attampt for comments *grin*

I'm sure Tommie Franks doesn't go to the Whitehouse in his dusty BDUs. The gold lame is strictly the Class A dress uniform for banquets, trips to the temple, photo ops posing with decapitated Orcs, etc. You might get to see her in battle dress, but then she'd have to kill you. Be afraid of a girl who packs a pair of 44's and a sword - be very afraid.

Obviously, Vicky was having a nice day, eating bonbons and lounging the temple, wearing her regulation gold lame bikini, when the nasty iguana barged in. She grabbed up the nearest sword, and the rest is history.

With the biceps on the iguana, they should be posing together on the cover of some muscle and fitness mag. Getting the lizard into a gold lame posing strap might be a problem though.
