You may already know this, but I find it very useful to used the Advanced Search options when doing a Google image search to eliminate 90% of the more useless pics. I start with Wallpaper Size, then if nothing good pops up go down to Very Large. This usually results an many fewer hits, but the hits are usually the better pics to use as references. Using Related to the Exact Phrase - killer whale, I found many nice reference pics; head on, profile, underwater, in full breach, schematics, etc. And since they are the bigger pics you can see more of the details you probably are wanting.
