Subject: Poser 4 pro pack limited to 256 pose folders

I don't remember seeing this around here - I had the unfortunate experience of exceeding 256 folders in the 'pose' library. Any folder past number 256 will not load into poser. Period.

yup, there were comments about that a year ago when folks went to P5 and found the same thing and found that the solution was either pbooost or multiple runtimes that P5 supports.

er, personally, I get pissed when I have to scroll too far, so I tend to try and keep P4 on a single screen if possible (not hardly with the pose library). I have P5 and P4/PP and install everything to P4 because its the most stable. Just use P5 to link. If P5 ever gets stabilized then I'll ditch P4 and go through the process of installing everything to P5. Imagine a "mor" and a "mat" library! Boy would that organize things. But, unfortunately, I'm running at 1024x768 and P5 SR3 is set to 1600. So I reran sr2.1 to corect that obviously silly flaw.

I dump a lot of pose folders somewhere else on the HD, and only move them into the runtime directory when I actually need them. Saves a lot of scrolling.

Incidently, here is what I did on my Poser Folders (I mostly use Poser 4) Remove all the Vickie 3 REMover ones - I build my figures up with addittional morphs as I need 'em, so I never need to tear them down, anyway. Remove all the P4 animal ones- except for the Horse, as I'm still going to build my own Horse, and I want a starting place. Remove most -all of the P4 figure Poses. I seldom use the P4 figures anyway, and they don't work right with later figures. Put them somplace else in case you ever want them later.

Remove all the animal ones? Pah. I have 59 folders of animal poses! LOL Your horse better come with at least 150 poses! :😁:

Yeah, I've noticed that, if I try to load the folder at the bottom of the list, it reverts to the one at the top, I just can't open it until I rename it to something that will appear nearer to the start of the list... later jb

this must be a Windows based problem since, as the pic shows I have more than 256 files in my pose folder in my poser mac version. And I did a quick ckeck and I can load the very last one, in fact, the last item in the last folder :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

!@#$%^! the screen cap didn't cap! growl, grumble, gripe!! What was supposed to show was I have 330 folders in my pose folder

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

I get really annoyed the way installers try to create more different folders than you want - not just poses, figures are just as bad. Some folk have no sense of organisation. You would think that in their kitchen every spoon has its own drawer.

hogwarden ( ) posted Wed, 11 June 2003 at 5:49 AM

LOL! No need for PBooost for MAC then! H:)

ldynghtwng ( ) posted Sat, 14 June 2003 at 10:59 AM

I think I've gotten close to 1200 folders on a Mac, bu then it kinda locks up and looks sad :-(

Well I don't see how anybody can know how you want your stuff organized. Seems silly to complain about install folders when you have total control over your own libraries.
