squeeka, something else you might try is to change the light to ranged. If you're only trying to light a portion, not all of it (like replacing the sun), then limiting the light helps. At least, I've found it does when I've done that. Playing with the shadow settings of the light might help also. And someone will correct me if I'm completely off base here, but I think I'm right.
