So if you pou the shortcuts to an rsr and a cr2 in a library folder, the thumbnail shows up and the character loads nornally? Doesn't work on '98 (not surprisingly - I need to get my Win2K system back up) You can click on a shortcut in the file open/save dialogs - for instance loading a PZ3, but shortcuts in the library folders don't shou up at all. Win2K handles shortcuts differently so I imagine this will work for any program under that OS. One thing I never took note of is whether the shortcuts have to be on an NTFS partition. Be interesting to know if it's all the OS or the OS/filesystem combination. Under '98, the MSDOS filename are vicky.cr2.lnk (for example) though in Windows, it wouild show up as simply vicky.cr2, even with all extentions visible. On an NTFS drive, you can also create "hard links." These are like super shortcuts. The references stay correct even if you move or rename the original file and deleting a link should not delete the original file. Here's a link to a utility for creating hard links. NB - hard links work only on one drive so you can't have a hard link on C: referring to a file on D:
