Most of the changes in shape should be done right in Apophysis by using the edit feature. Once you get a shape you like, use the copy button and bring it to UF. In UF, you can correct the colors, thicken it (increase the iter.density), layer it with other fractals or flames, put in backgrounds, make frames, turn it upside down, zoom into it, etc. You actually can change the shapes there too, but it's much more difficult.
