Subject: Vic 1 Lo Res vs. Vic 3

Hi all, If you already own Vic 3, is there any good reason why you should also purchase Vic 1 Lo Resolution model ? (...apart from a handful of models that are based on V1) thanks, Andrew

One consideration - Easier on the system, especially if your scene is already complex, or you're using a lot of figures. BTW LoRes Vic1 was a "freebie" with 3D World Magazine issue 37 and possibly other mags as well.

I have both and still use the lo res one a lot. Like leather-guy says, its easy on the resources. The face is a bit different too.

I am using too low res a lot. As you already said it is easy on the resources. The problem is that very few people make face morph for both low res V1 and V2 and low res M2. I bought DAZ SWO faces they are working fine on low res V2. I don't know why here in MP people do not make morphs for the low res versions.

there are tons of V1 lores on the Japanese sites. Ken1 has some morphs in the freestuff here... go check him out.

I often use the lores figures to setup a scene since they load faster and are, as stated above, easier on the system. Also, the lores figures are great for background characters.

What is a "lore figure" ?

bijouchat ( ) posted Wed, 25 June 2003 at 8:50 PM

a low-resolution figure... reduced polygons.

bijouchat ( ) posted Wed, 25 June 2003 at 8:50 PM

its lo-res, not lore, though :)

mathman ( ) posted Wed, 25 June 2003 at 8:52 PM

Thanks, I thought it might have been referring to mythical or legendary figures.....in some cases, maybe that's just what they are.... I've seen V1 Lore advertised on the CD of a couple of 3D magazines in the stands at the moment, so I'll probably grab a copy.

ah well, that's what I get for being lazy in typing. "lores" to mean "lo-res" or "low-resolution" as bijouchat said.

Thanks bijouchat for the advice. If I may I would like to ask you for the url's of the japanese sites where I can find face morphs for low res M2. thanks -- BonBonish
