There are three ways I can think of. You need to make the chainmail bigger, though. Not by resizing it, but adding more rings, so it's bigger than the legs. 1 - Make a displacement map out of the legs and then use the Distort - Displace filter on the chainmail layer. 2 - Play with layer blending modes. 3 - Use the Shear and/ or Liquify filters. My English isn't good enough to explain everything step by step, but maybe someone could explain these in depth if you're not familiar with them.

Also use some shading to match the lighting on the object(s) the chainmail will wrap around. Fast and easy way is to use the Dodge/burn tool to lighten/darken. But this may affect the -color- of the chain too much. A slower but more accurate way would be to create two new layers (one for shadows, one for highlights), paint in the shadows and highlights using basic colors, then adjust the blending methods for those layers to make them (guess what?) blend onto the chain.
Tried all of these suggestions, but it just did not turn out quite like what I had in mind! I have decided to give up on the contest that this was to be an entry for, and perhaps I will just have to wait till I have a graphics tablet and do this by hand! Just the same, thanks to all of you for your suggestions......they were all better than anything I had come up with! It just didn't work the way I wanted, and I am a bit of a perfectionist with my art (aren't we all?)! Cheers
