Might be a consideration to get a UPS (Uninterruptable Poser Supply)..when the power fails, it wails like a Banshee, and you get 10 minutes to save, shut down, and wait for the power to come back. They're not cheap (I think they start at about US$150 for a small unit, but you want one with a battery), it could save you some time and grief. I'm paying about $100 for motherboards here in the States, so that sounds about normal. I don't know if your bios chip is detachable, or surface-mounted (which means you can't do jack with it..), but most BIOS batteries are good for about 2-3 years. And do what I do, if you can...get a CD burner and make backups of all your data (the programs can be reloaded..but the web sites for Bryce and Poser sometimes have the half-life of some of the short-lived radioactive elements), and you can always get them back.
