You can authorize direct payments from your bank with Paypal....no credit card involved. For many transactions (I can't think of exception), debit cards work as well as credit cards. If you have a bank account, there's usually a way to spend out of it even if you don't have a credit card. And there are checks and money orders as was mentioned before. When I decided to get my spending habits under control a year ago, credit cards were the first thing to go...and I can't say I miss them.
