Something you can do is render to image files, then open up Quicktime. I believe you need the pro version for this, but anyway... Once you open a new quicktime window, go File/Open image sequence. Choose the first numbered file of your image file animation, and it was import all the frames. Save that as a .mov, and you're set. Makes a nice small file, and also has nice quality. Please forgive me if this doesn't make perfect sense, as I'm a tad buzzed right now. If there's any further questions, I'll answer again in the morning.
