i have loads of stuff i'm working on that i need your help with. I saw an advert in a magazine from Saturday's paper. Basically it for some wireless lights, they were solar powered. The advert said that they were waterproof and could be used in ponds or water features. This intergrued me, the picture provided in the advert wasn't the best (cheap paper and fuzzy looking) so I decided to have a go at re-creating the lights in Bryce. I'm trying to go for a mystical/spooky look. Er... the sky preset I've used had too much mist so currently the scene is above the mist level, I may drop it back later. Basically I want to put trees or bushes on the far edge of the pond but the bushes I used were based on a volumetric texture and looked wrong I've tried to create bushes in the tree lab with no success. I want the plants to cover the horizon. So basically..... too many basics, sorry... I need ideas on which way to take this project and how to put in some decent vegetation. All help will be gratefully revieced. John

this next one struck me as i was zooming along home from work the other day on my bike. wouldn't a Head's Up Display be great for helmets? i knocked up the helmet quickly in bryce and started on the HUD in PS. during a quick test render i noticed the HUD wasn't lining up properly. the direction arrow should be dead centre. any ideas on how to move this, every thing i've tried doesn't work. Looks like if you turn left you'll be doing some dirt biking. =P. Neat idea. If you applied the HUD to a sphere, you can reposition it in bryce's texture editor. To bring up the texture position/scale editor go to the material properties of the object and click the green marble ontop of the texture in the upper right area. When you let the mouse hover over it it will say Editor. Sorry I can't get a screenshot of this, bryce (due to that crazy priority conflict won't let any external programs be accessed (IE screen shot apps).

They remind me of methane "wisps" that we get around ponds/swamps here. They are rare, but they appear as glowing yellow green orbs above the water. Really enchanting looking.

The Heads Up Display for the helmet is a very cool idea. 8) Couldn't tell you which mats to use cause I like 'em all. There is always a way to use just about any mat. Nice you did with your materials by the way. ~ Swade ~

The fourth mat from the left is really excellent.

For bushes just create a tree and sink the trunk way into the ground.

The top image is cool. I emmediately thought of those balls as moons that had fallen out of the sky. (I have a feeling that was very bad grammar)

i tried to apply the HUD to a sphere and repositon it as suggested but it won't move! maybe i'm doing something wrong, i'll try again later. i'm going to add buildings and stuff to the HUd scene very soon. i've made about 12 or so mats i couldn't fit them all in. if i zoomed out any further they became too small to see any real detail in. I NEED NAMES FOR THEM! actually i've grown to like the glowing globes one now. i used to think it was a bad idea. I'll upload the mats when i've got names for them and can be bothered to do so. You could call the texture on far right 'gas giant'. And the blue one could be 'mechanic water'.

I was thinking of calling it something like Gas Giant when I was making it. Mechanic water? hmmm.... better than the one i've got at the moment for it (blue technik) John
