Theft: You have something, I steal it. Now you don't have it anymore, I have it. Copyright violation: You have something, I steal it. You still have it. Not quite so bad. Yes, you have a right to show your work without someone copying it, but it's a bit like Graham Chapman in "Life of Brian" demanding the right to have a baby. Yes, Graham, you have the right ... but you can't actually do it. If it really disturbs you, then the watermarking solution is the only practical one to follow.
