Funny, I was just thinking about this very thing a while ago, when one of those banners appeared at the top of the screen. It drives me crazy. It makes me dizzy to look at an image that's been turned sideways, just so they can get something to fit into a horizontal banner. I have to scroll down so I can't see it. In my case, it does nothing for the artist who is trying to sell a product, since I can't look at the banner. It hurts my neck to turn my head sideways to look at the thing. Most of them aren't just someone lying on his or her side, it's a standing image that's been flipped sideways. I think one person started it long ago, and it caught on, but it's highly annoying.
