Forgot the link.I'm sorry, Stewer, you're right. POV-Ray couldn't do true caustics last time I played with it. But I think it was able to do simulated ones. Or maybe I'm smoking crack. It does do refraction, though. I know because it screwed with me for days on an animation before I realized I was passing through a glass.
Your project sounds interesting, Stewer. I only have Poser 4 and no immediate plans to get Poser 5. I've played with BMRT using P4's RIB export. Any tools that make the capabilities of these applications more accessible are welcome. For what it does, the much maligned Poser 4 renderer actually does a decent job with human figures. It's nice to be able to use reflections, etc, that P4 doesn't address without more financial investment.

If you're using P4's RIB export with BMRT, you need to do a search/replace to replace all the characters with . BMRT is expecting texture paths in C-style strings, where most other renderers I've seen use a single backslash in paths on Windows. However, my exporter won't help you much as it's written in Python and using some of Poser 5's methods, so it wouldn't even run on ProPack without modification. But the good part is that I can already export full animations to a series or RIB files that are being rendered in the background - great for animation previews!
