Cyhiraeth, You can use it to get inside walls of rooms if there isn't enought space to manipulate the camera. It is also handy for getting in close to pose without stuff getting in the way. Sometimes you want to make things invisible, but often you don't. Say that you were positioning fingers on a violin... if you make the violin invisible, you can't place the fingers.
