Given the stimulation of a couple dozen ads for penile enlargement and home mortgage rates and pyramid schemes (with the occasional cry for help from some Nigerian who trusts me to take their $70 million of ill-gotten gains from a safe-deposit box left by their uncle the former colonel), the mail would be too exciting for my poor heart to take unless it was interlaced with the quiet comfort of the ebots delivering their sensible messages. Has anybody tracked the records of their vanishing? Could it be some obscure-to-us ceremonial ritual where they all go underground during the new moon or on walkabout in their 15th month? Carolly
