Subject: Improper file format when exporting .3DS file...

I have an order for a 3DS scene for an ad agency, and so I've upgraded my 3dsmax 4.2 to 3dsmax 5. However, when I try to export a poser figure from Poser 5 as a .3DS file, I get an 'Improper File Format' error. Has anyone seen this, and hopefully -- does anyone have a solution to it? I've tried all the export options, but always get the same error.

Sorry, didn't see the thread further down in the forum. And I did a forum search and all. Sorry about the repetition, but my question still stands. :-)

Can 3dsmax read wavefront files? For $3000 it better be able to. If not there must be some plugin or similar to get obj files into it. I have noticed that the 3ds export from Poser is lacking in texture names and uv boundaries. I would not recommend it. FlyerX

Yeah, it can import Wavefront objects, but as you say. If you buy a piece of software and it has an export facility to a particular program, the export facility should work! If not, what else isn't working? 3d Studio Max is a pretty important piece of software for a nich of the userbase that use Poser. It should work.
