If there has been a time recently that the power in your home went off and back on quickly, you could have gotten a power surge to your system. The power supply, video card would be the first to be hit, then the modem. Spontaneous rebooting on my machines has usually been due to a motherboard going bad and sending our errant signals to the rest of the equipment.
