... except the front legs were ignored and were sticking straight out .... That's because Walk Designer was trying by default to apply a biped walk animation to a quadruped figure. Any poses placed in the Walk Designer folder turn into blend styles in the Walk Designer control panel, so you can theoretically correct that with the sliders if you have a proper animation from which to work (the Walk Designer can be a bit glitchy at times). If you want a real laugh, try applying a quadruped walk animation to a biped sometime.
