There is no difference between animating 3ds files or Wavefront obj files (or any other geometry file importable) in Poser. Once the geometry is loaded, the results are the same. You get a static geometry with no retention of bone structures or weight maps. You must "recreate" or create them anew in Poser (since it uses its own boning system). Then animation is done using the animation features of Poser. All of this is explained in the manual (print and pdf included with Poser). You MUST have Poser 4 Pro Pack or Poser 5 to do figure setup (boning). Poser 4 does not contain the necessary ability to create posable/animatable figures by itself.

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.
