I normally set virtual mem to 2xRAM rather then 1.5. If you do this change when you first install windows you should get a contiguous slot at the start of the drive (it'll be nice and fast). Sorry to hear about the PC woes, I'm sure the new one will make some big smiles. BTW did you do all the HD reclamation stuff like removing all off-line content from your browser etc?
