I got into trouPlease keep in mind that I am a newbie to Vue.I got into trouble on one of my computers because I insatalled Vue and tried to import a Poser file before I installed the beta 4.2 patch. So I am being very cautious about installing Vue Pro and am seeking advice BEFORE i do the install. On one computer I have Vue successfully installed and importing Poser5 files. I now have Mover and Vue Pro that I have not installed yet. Should I install Mover before I install Vue Pro so it works in my Vue 4 or should I wait and install Vue Pro and install Mover after? Hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help.

Install Mover 4 over your Vue 4. (normally you should have done so BEFORE you installed the 4.2 patch. install Vue Pro in a NEW, SEPARATE folder.

Mover 4 is NOT for VuePro, there will be an update, said Lynn.

Guitta, am I going to have problems because I didn't install Mover before I installed the 4.2 patch? I just got Mover which is why I haven't installed it yet. Here is a workflow question. If I use Mover to bring in the Poser animation to Vue and save it as a Vue file can I then bring it into Vue Pro? Thanks for all of your expertise.

I don't know if you will have problems. maybe not, I have not tried. If you create an animation in Vue 4 and just want to save 1 single image, yes you will be able to import it into Pro. But not an entire animation. I think, because Pro has no Mover update yet.

If it installs over, Do I need to upgrade to 4.20 before installing VuePro, (I currently have 4.12)? I'm using Poser4/Propack. I'm a little reserved about using the 4.20 patch, because some people seem to be having trouble with it. If Poser5 is installed then I need The Vue2.0 patch correct? Can Vue4 and VuePro both be on the desk top? As Vue4 and Vue4/VuePro? Is VuePro shipping with Disk, Box and manual? If you have both Vue4 and VuePro, will you get a lower price for Vue5?

I would NOT install Vue 4 Pro OVER Vue 4. 4.2 patch works quite fine. You don't need The Vue 4.2 patch because Poser 5 is installed on your Computer. But if you want to use Poser 5 in Vue 4, you need to install 4.2, yes! Both on the desktop, YES. Shipping with an over 400 pages manual and box, YES. I don't know if you will get a lower price for Vue 5. For the moment nobody of e-on is speaking about Vue 5 and normally we always got an update price when we had already the previous version. But don't mixup every thing. Vue 4 can be updated with Vue 5 when it comes out. Vue 4 Professional is a DIFFERENT product and will have its own updates.

I have installed Vue 4 Pro yet. Pro cannot read scenes with plants generated with versions earlier than Vue 4 caused by the new plant editor I suggest. Pro also uses different plant-leaves-transmaps. The old ones look quite stupid on the plant. So I _highly recommend_ not to install Pro over Vue 4 standard! But I have a question too: Trying to load the walnut tree from Vue4 I got the message: "Impossible. Use the plant conversion tool before loading it." But where the heck is this damned plant conversion tool? asks Ona

I'm afraid I cannot be helpful here, because I don't have Pro. Just the beta version while testing. You better ask this question at e-on's site (support). Guitta

Philywebrider ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 10:49 AM

Sorry Guitta, I'm a little confused.VuePro is a stand alone program, correct. The sidegrade VuePro just needs the Vue4 serial number? The sidegrade VuePro is a complete program by itself? What was confusing me was the ads. The ad defines the two versions as The "COMPLETE" Program and The "SIDEGRADE" Program". leading me to believe the SIDEGRADE wasn't "COMPLETE" and somehow needed Vue4. I'm gong to buy it, but I wanted make sure what I'm buying.

I cannot tell you more Phily, sorry. Just wait when you receive it, I'm quite sure you will get a new serial. If ever it needs to be installed in the Vue 4 directory (I cannot believe that, but...hm!), I would create a copy of my Vue folder and install it over there. So you always have Vue 4 and Pro. If you want to be absolutely sure, you must ask this at e-on's site.
