Try this link. I use them and have had great service. Set up happened same day I purchased the space. $60.00 a year for the small package. The great service is due to the fact that I have needed NO service. I saw good reviews on them when I was looking.Attached Link: http://www.activewebhosting.com

I love mine. Dreamhost. basic rate is $9.95 a month I'd recommend www.godaddy.com for domain registrationAttached Link: http://www.globat.com
1000Mb web space 50Gb Bandwidth per month $7.95 a month (billed as an annual amount of $95.40) OR $6.95 a month (accrued amount billed biennually instead) Free setup on both thoseThey also have very inexpensive Commerce packages.
And GoDaddy is the best domain name pricing I've seen - 10 years for less than $70. Transferring a domain to them is also very inexpensive.
There's no such thing as "unlimited" transfer or storage. That activehosting place does not display their TOS or AUP any where on the site. You can bet when your site hits 10 or 20 GB of transfer they will either send you a bill for $20/GB or pull the plug. Been there done that.
I have had a real horror story finding a truely good, reliable, HONEST hosting company.
If a host claims unlimited any thing run for your life. They have started the business relationship by lying to you. If you read the fine print in the AUP for these sites you will find that the usage is unlimited till they think you are using more than some average they cooked up. Then they will kill your site or charge some outrageous over utilization fee.
Nerd3D averages 50 GB/mo. I ended up on a "virtual server" which is basically a dedicated server shared by about 10 subscribers. It has all the bemefits of a fully dedicated server without the cost. The place I use now is tera-byte.com. Good prices and top notch service. A human answers the phone, really an actual live person! If you're tired of hosting comapny BS try them.
Case and point, this is from the globat TOS:
Binary files such as images, video and sound (i.e MP3, WAV, RA, GIF, JPG but not limited to those file extensions) may only account for a maximum of 50% of Customer's total bandwidth usage before customer must upgrade to a higher performance solution.
In other words if you have a poser site with lots of pictures they will be billing you for transfer at some special undisclosed rate. I've been bitten by this line a few time. They usually try to force you to buy a dedicated server. Beware!
I have to agree with pizazz on ICDSOFT. I have 2 sites with them for the small package (the second site with them is only $50 per year...and that included a domain name). I've never seen my site down. The stats provided are by awstats and seem very nice to me. It's not a large transfer site, though. 5GB, I think. So, I'm not saying use ICD (as compared to the others you see above) but they are a quality company with a heck of an uptime.
Whatever you do DO NOT go with active web hosting. The one and only employee/owner is a psycho who held my domain hostage. He accused me of distributing warez because I had a file that belonged to me in my stuff but it had a renderosity license in it. He decided to go thru all of my zip files on a whim and then decided that I had one to many and froze my site. During the course of our emails I finally just decided to delete everything on my site then he accused me of deleting it because it was warez. The guys a weiner, just stay away from that place.

I think nerd hit it on the head. For instance, take globat. How can they offer such a price? Well, for one theyre putting as many as 4000 websites on a single server. Think of that. 4000 sites! As a comparison, the host I am currently with has 379 sites on the server one of my sites is on. Which would you rather be on? A company can promise all sorts of unlimiteds and overcrowd their servers. But all it takes is a handful of sites on that server with 4000+ sites to start bursting bandwidth before your site starts to crawl like molasses in winter. I dont care what hardware youre running; no server should have 4000+ sites on it! I would advise you to take a gander at the discussions that take place at www.webhostingtalk.com. The stories you will hear are amazing. And youll get an idea of those hosts who are honest and those who you should avoid like the plague. IMHO, any host that will place 4000+ sites on a single server should be avoided like the plague. Unfortunately, that is how many of these hosts can offer such great deals. They overload their servers and pray no one actually tries to take advantage of that unlimited bandwidth or that unlimited pop email accounts. Also, do a simple test. Send an email inquiry to a host youre thinking of. See how long it takes to respond with something other than an autoresponder. If theyre slow responding to a potential customer, chances are theyre going to be just as slow responding to a client with a service issue. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamericaYeah, like try sending a message of inquiry to ICD. I did with some questions about PHP and DreamWeaver. Got a reply back in about 2 hours. Followed up with another question and got a reply in about an hour. Also, was trying to get an avatar to show up on a forum that my wife frequents but it kept "X'ing" out on the forum. I had specified the right file name and right path on our site as a reference in the forum but it didn't work. So, I wondered if there was a problem with ICD. Sent in a message about "hot linking" and a guy answered back in about an hour. We swapped a few more messages very quickly and then I gave him my wife's password on the forum. He took the time to go investigate and discovered the problem...it was my fault (a problem lower-case vs upper-case and the server software). A quick change of a letter to lower-case solved the problem. That's what I call service, especially when it was my fault/error.

***Posted by: Little Dragon****Welcome back. Both you and your freebies have been missed.*I'm afraid I don't have any recommendations for webhosting, but I'd love to hear your opinion of the upcoming remake of Galactica.
Thanks for the WB :o)
As to the "Remake", it SUCKS! BIG TIME!
They've taken the original and totally turned it upside down. NOTHING is remotely the same, no matter what they try to spin doctor on it.
Take it from their lead actor: Do not watch this. It's too painful. Instead, get the DVD's and watch them the night the "Remake" airs.
To hear the lead actor (Olmos) say that was amazing.
Web Hosting: I'll need a place that offers a LOT of bandwidth, given the popularity of the items I had for DL. That's what killed me before (aside from thieves taking the stuff, but that's another matter altogether, and the innocent shouldn't suffer due to some butt-heads)
When I do get it back up, I hope to have my new stuff ready to go up as well as the old stuff.
Foxseelady, the mutts name was Muffit :o)

I've been satisfied with 0catch. For $14.95 a mo. I get: 1 gig server space 6 gigs transfer a month (sufficient for me) Unlimited file size limit 50 pop email accounts FTP access Unlimited daily bandwidth limit FrontPage extensions No file type limitations Remote file linking Support for PHP, perl, python, MySQL etc. They have other packages as well. LaurieLaurie, I can't believe 6 Gbs transfer is enough for you. You've got so much great free stuff. People must not know about it. :-) I go over that every month, just for an ordinary site that offers mostly images and text. I went over 20 Gb one month, though I think that was because I had a few items on eBay, with the images hosted at my web site.
Yep, 6 gigs seems to do the trick ;o). I think a lot of people don't visit my site (I don't advertise it much and that's why - so I don't exhaust all my bandwidth...LOL). I also have some of the same items posted elsewhere too, so I guess that alleviates some of the traffic on my own site ;o). And thanks for the compliment :o). Laurie

If I can find a GOOD web host, then my Poser site will return. Sorry I haven't been around, but something came up that caught me off-guard: I'm the webmaster of battlestargalactica.com now. Given that, *some* Poser items will be for download at http://www.battlestargalactica.com in the Gallery 3D Models section (all will be BSG related there though). The rest of the stuff needs a different web host. I plan on getting a new domain as well for it.
