Subject: What gives with all the trouble geting to this site??!

Scathdebas ( ) posted Sun, 28 September 2003 at 3:09 PM · edited Mon, 18 November 2024 at 12:25 PM

This is the first time I have been able to access the site in almost a week. Everytime I tried to come here I got the MaxSessions Exceeded message. Is anyone else having this problem? It is sad to see this site go down so badly. First, all the vendors leave and now you can't even get here to TRY to support those that remain!

The whole site has been hit and miss for me lately. I often get "Cannot Find Server" and even when I can get here, it's painfully slow.

Hmmm, I've never seen that message here... I know there were some problems earlier this week.. There was some upgrading done to the site and it has been good at my end so far.. I've found the site to be running at a decent pace for the last two or three days.. Please let us know if your still having a problem.. It should have been resolved by now..

Here (Italy) is terribly slow again. Seemed to get better in the past week, but now it's some days that it's snail-ish again. S:

If you use a bookmark that goes directly to the poser forum it tends to get the max sessions exceeded. So does a direct link to http://www.renderosity.com I had a link to the comics forum, and so far I have not gotten the error message going in via that bookmark. Once I am in, I have no problems, save a few "page not founds". The bottom line is -- and you don't seem to know it, which was my fear -- we cannot get to the site.

Its been fine for me, but I use the drop down history from IE or if I have deleted cookies/files/history I just type in the url. The only occasional error messages that I get when going from one page to another are pretty much run of the mill for me over a 4 year track record here. Backing up and retrying usually works. Nothin new here folks. Only thing I experienced last few weeks were some slight delays from time to time and last few days 'Osity has run faster than ever for me.

I do know they upgraded some software, and it has seemed to help... I always come here thru a bookmark/favorite.. Mine is to the main page.. Of course, I'll suggest that you clear all your temp files, cookies etc etc... Double Crash, I wonder if your issue had anything to do with the recent blackout... Scathdebas, what browser and version are you using? Now that you've posted it, yes we do know you can't get to the site... Ok, what do we know?, some folks are getting here just fine, some aren't... That means to me, the problem isn't site wide... perhaps you should try updating your bookmark/favorite... Remove the current ones you use and try making new ones.. I've had that happen to me... Does the rest of the web work OK? I'm really trying to figure this out and help you resolve this issue... Bruce "Pushinfaders"

Scathdebas, we believe our server problems to be resolved. So if you're still having problems, please try some or all of the suggestions listed below to help your browser's and/or computer's functions. I've posted the microsoft service update site, so you can check for software updates. Go to IE's Tools, then Internet Options. On the general tab, under the Temp files, click the "settings" button. Your browser performs best on "Automatic" caching of files. If it's not on automatic, you should probably try it. You can always change it back if you prefer. Under the security's tab, if the Internet settings are on High, it could cause you some problems. So, if on High, try the medium setting. Same thing with the "Privacy" tab--High can cause problems handling cookies. The default works good (and I believe that's a medium). Also, make sure that any bookmarks/favorites urls do not have session variables in the link. For example, fields like "Form.sess_id=732052" or "Form.sess_key=989364876" would need to be removed. Also, if you haven't rebooted your computer in a while it may be good to try that too. Your browser may have cached a page to two while we were having problems. Hope these help, Jenifer

Microsoft had no updates. I wish you would let me ask in a VISITED forum if anyone else is having trouble.

Did someone tell you you couldn't? If the motivations to to help understand the issue, I don't see why it would be a problem.. But, I'm not an administrator.. I'm sure we would all like to know if there is some major issue going on here.. It's not happening to me as we discussed in our e-mail exchange.. I am able to log on thru several different browsers on two different machines..and I'm on dial up.. I really hope we can figure this out for you.. Bruce

It's better than it was, but I'm still having problems with the site. Sometimes it's as slow as molasses. (And I have DSL. I hate to think what it's like for the dial-up users.)And I still get a 404 once in awhile, either with a bookmark of the main page or while browsing the site. (I'm in NY, if that matters.) The Galleries are especially bad. I've pretty much given up looking at them. I checked out every one of the "gallery picks of the week" the first three weeks. Since then, I haven't. I tried, but it soon became clear that I'd be collecting social security before I got through them all.
