I sculpt gunite (a form of concrete) and have no forum to talk in... I'm currently posting a WIP as a step by step in how we do our gunite sculpting, and how we get to the point where we get to sculpt... most of the rocks you see in the zoo are actually gunite.. carved to LOOK like rocks... Granted, most of my work is creating sharp, smooth, straight and curved walls, steps, and the like. But it is Sculpting, we have to carve out the shape we want or need, it's not easy, but rewarding... head on over to my gallery in the next few days to see the beginnings of a Gunite Swimming Pool, and how they are built. (They aren't poured concrete as some would believe, that would crack) This is my latest steps craved from a big pile of sloppy gunite.

LOL

I think the reason for not having sculpting and architecture is because R'osity focusses on 3D art made by, primarily, virtual means - not physical.

You did, however, provide a good example as to why image size limitations in posts need to be addressed. At 1422x654 pixels, I would have to say the graphic is a tad excessive. You could have accomplished the same effect with a smaller image, IMHO. ;0)

In that respect... Photography is a Physical Means... not virtual... Renderosity is, and should be, a community for ALL artists of ANY medium... limiting shrinks Renderosity's potential user base... Architectual IS in the genre list as well... just hoping... and the image quality here shows the gunite as it is... not to mention that I'm fond of my carving of this particular set... I got all the dimensions absolutely right that time... which REAlLY helped when it came time to do the tile... which at the rate of 3 per day.. leaves about a week before I get to post those pics... {=))

"Photography is a Physical Means... not virtual..."

Depends on how you view it: You have a physical picture (or virtual if digital) representing a physical object (virtually).

Regardless, I am not R'osity, so I do not have the final say by any means. I am just offering my opinion on why they may exclude certain artistic endeavors. If you think of all the artistic endeavors that could be represented, and attempt to give them all equal time (so to speak), this would become one overcrowded and much more overwhelmed site indeed.

Renderosity's focus in on 2d & 3d computer generated (vitual) art. The reason for the photography forum, is that many people use 2d editing tools for photographs. And, much of photography today is digital (virtual). 3d architects are seen in most of the forums & galleries. I'm not sure how many members here would want (or participate in) a "Sculpting" gallery.

I am sure masterw3 would be more than welcome showing his photographs in the Photograpy Gallery, though. ;0) I do not think it has limits regarding what the photograph contains; other than the overall TOS stipulations, of course.

i agree with cyberstretch. also, masterw3 might really enjoy trying some modelling apps, as well.
