Tebop, are you still having trouble getting your poser figures into Carrara? If so, there's a tutorial covering it at castironflamingo.com (at least, I think that's the site). They talk about using soemthing called Grouper, which unfortunately us Mac users don't have. But the process of setting up your shaders is explained pretty well and I found that it wasn't too difficult to follow along and figure it out, even without the Grouper tool.

I'm also linking to a thread that discussed the poser/carrara texture thing as well.
