"And when you say somercial stuff what exactly u mean?" - You can't make money from images or objects made with the software; directly or indirectly (indirectly = creating an image that advertises your services). "Can I use it for school/personal projects?" - usually yes, as long as "personal projects" does not mean "personal money making projects" (see example above). "how are the renders?" - sorry I'm not in a position to know ;-) "does is render with a nasty watermark saying "educational lic"?" - sorry I'm not in a position to know, but I doubt it ;-) "How would you stop a person if he/she wanted to use edu lic for commercial use?" - if you are the one buying the license, then you would make students aware of the license agreement (3DS Max, has a splash screen to remind students). You may have to devize your own penalties on students that flout the agreement i.e. expulsion. "and do you have any way of finding out what lic was used to make something?" - it may be possible for the program to write something in the header of a file. Hope that gives you some idea jot.
