It seemed to be quite messed up so it refused to uninstall properly. So I tried to clean up what I could. The second install didn't work either but the third I installed "over" the current install. ... did that make sense...? And so it worked.

About the graphic card: Gebe gave me the advice not to worry about the message about card being no good. It should work with the modell I have. And so I answered no when asked if I wanted to turn off openGL. And then I unchecked the 'check graphic card at start up'. No problems since. :o)
