I've spent years around sailboats too, always scraping and sanding and polishing and cleaning and scraping and sanding and polishing and cleaning, trying to get something to look like this. In fact, as I recall, I spent my entire honeymoon at Catalina Island, scraping and cleaning and cleaning and polishing and .... Not the image of laid back in the sand enjoying the sunset. So, you're right on. Weathering on the textures it will be!
