tjohn, your suggestion that the magazine stop having cover contests is right on the nose. I think I also mentioned this a few weeks back in an earlier thread in this vein. I remember seeing some time ago talk of the magazine project wanting to move out from Renderosity and onto the shelves of regular newsagents. If this is to happen then they are going to have to 'grow up' and start acting like a professional publication. They should, exactly as you say, commission works suitable for their needs from artists of their choosing. I'm not personally interested in the magazine (my beef in these unpleasant events has been with the attacks on the winner and the winning entry, plus some irritation at the software snobbery) but I agree that the ending of the contests will bring this kind of nonsense to a close.
