Sounds to me like the thing you are trying to save is not actually a figure. How did you load it? If you loaded it by clicking on an icon in the Figures pallet, then it is a figure. If you loaded it any other way then it probably is not a figure (if loaded via a pz3 it may be a figure). The way to tell for sure is to see if it is listed in the Figures menu.
