One problem I ran into was saving the backdrop in the small banner size and then adding the text. Doing all the work in a larger dimensional/resolution PSD (in a multiple size of finish product, saving the PSD so I can make changes later if needed. Then I save as a BMP which requires no compression. I open a new file the size of the actual logo, copy to the smaller frame,resize,then save in jpg format. Overall the first step of saving a PSD (300dpi)will allow you to work out any situations later. Hope this helps.
