Bryce terrains are optimized for use in Bryce, so that's why even inside of Bryce they have thousands upon thousands of polys but still are very work-able. But...take them out of Bryce, and wow. Be SURE when you export terrains use nothing but the "Adaptive Triangulation" NOT the "Grid Triangulation". After that I will max out the amount of polys, then use the "add polys" option abount 3 times to get a exporting mesh with enough polys to look decent in another program. Using the "Adaptive" feature instead of the Grid will keep your file size down, yet you will have to increase the number of polys to make the jagged edges at bay. Experiment. I have "added polys" up to 5 times. Btw, each time you do that it will take longer and longer to process it, find a comic book to read or something, it can take quite a while those last time(s).
