Raven - Yea, I used a 10D. The 300D (Digital Rebel in the US) is sort of a Baby 10D. Many of the same features, same size CMOS array but it has its limitations (when compared to the 10D). For me, the major differences between the 10D and 300D are: 1) Body Construction - 10D has magnesium alloy body, 300D plastic body 2) Exposure Compensation - 10D can be set in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments, 300D only in 1/2 3) ISO Settings - 10D goes from ISO 100-3200 equivalent, 300D ISO 100-1600 4) Mirror Lockup - 10D has it, 300D does not 5) Viewfinder - 10D uses a pentaprism, 300D a pentamirror 6) Shot Speed - 10D can shoot 3fps for 9 frames, 300D 2.5fps for 4 frames 7) Flash Exposure Compensation - 10D has it, 300D doesn't 8) PC Sync Socket - 10D has one built in, 300D doesn't 9) Auto-focus Point Registration - 10D has it, 300D doesn't 10) Control - Many of the customizable settings/parameters in the 10D have been made non-customizable on the 300D (examples: Flash Sync in AV mode, Size of JPEG with RAW, Exposure/WB Bracketing Order, Auto-focus point high-lighting, etc.) The Nikon D100 is a very good camera. If you already have Nikkor glass then I wouldn't hesitate to get a D100. The 10D is a more sophisticated camera than the D100 (the Canon DIGIC processor alone in the 10D puts it in a new category). The 10D came out after the D100, with many improvements over its predecessoor (the Canon D60). The Canon D60 and Nikon D100 are more alike and a better comparison than the D100 to 10D. If you are serious about your photography, I wouldn't go to the 300D, simply because you are likely to outgrow the limitations it imposes. If, however, you think you can live with the limitations and don't need/want the level of control, the 300D is fine camera. And how do you beat less than $1000 for a D-SLR with lens; body and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 EF-S lens (that's about a 28-88mm lens on the 300D). Sorry if this seems a bit disjointed. Not feeling well (running a slight fever). -=>Donald
