Very true. But personally, I think she'd be better off just buying the morph and texture packs. It sounds like she's brand new to Poser, and possibly new to Lightwave as well. IME, you're better off learning to use Poser with stuff designed for Poser before you try making your own morphs and textures. Trying to run before you can walk will only be discouraging. I mean really - even modelling experts don't generally make all their own speech and expression morphs. What she wants to do would be a lot of work and take a lot of time even for someone with years of experience.
