CREATING TEXTURE TEMPLATES FOR JUDY When a Poser model uses more than one texture, you see a real jumble when you initially open the model in UV Mapper or UV Mapper Pro. However, you CAN save individual templates really easily. You just have to study existing textures to determine which materials appear on which templates. These instructions are with UV Mapper Pro, but should be VERY similar in UV Mapper (free version). You should be able to make templates for any Poser character that requires multiple texture maps ... just make sure you have the right groups or materials on each texture map before you save the template. Ready? 1. Open Judy in UV Mapper Pro. She is in Runtime/Geometries/P5NudeWoman/P5NudeWoman.obj 2. Select all of the body parts, and then press [ to hide them. The template area should now be empty. TO SAVE THE HEAD TEMPLATE: 1. Choose Select > Select by > Material. 2. Highlight the following materials: Eyelashes, Lacrimal, Lips, Nostrils, Skin Head. Then choose OK to select them. 3. To unhide the selected parts, press the ] key. Only the head parts should be visible now. After they are visible, choose Select > Deselect. 4. Now for the secret ... choose File > Save Template. Enter the dimensions for the head template (1500 x 1500 for medium res, 3000 x 3000 for hi res work) 5. Check the "EXCLUDE HIDDEN FACETS" checkbox ... otherwise, UV Mapper will include all of the hidden parts in the template, and you don't want that. 6. Press OK to assign the template a name, such as P5WomanHead.bmp. TO SAVE THE BODY TEMPLATE 1. Select all of the visible parts, and press [ to hide them. 2. Choose Select > Select by > Material. 3. Highlight the following materials for the body: Fingernails, Inner Mouth, Nipples, SkinBody, Teeth, ToeNails, Tongue. Choose OK to select the parts. 4. Press ] to unhide the selection, then choose Select > Deselect. 5. Choose FIle > Save Template. Enter dimensions (2000 x 2000 for medium res, 4000 x 4000 for hi res). 6. Exclude hidden facets should still be selected from the previous template. Choose OK to assign a name such as P5WomanBody.bmp TO SAVE THE EYE TEMPLATE 1. Select all of the visible parts and press [ to hide them. 2. Choose Select > Select by > Group. 3. Select the leftEye and rightEye groups. Press ] to unhide them. 4. Choose Select > Deselect. 5. Choose File > Save Template. Enter dimensions (500 x 500? 800 x 800?). 6. Make sure that Exclude hidden facets is still selected, and choose OK to assign a name such as P5WomanEyes.bmp That should be it! With slight modifications as to which materials or groups you select for the template you want to create, the steps are basically the same. Just remember that [ hides selected faces and ] unhides them ... and that EXCLUDE HIDDEN FACETS must be selected to save only the visible faces. Good luck! Dee
