For waves breaking on the sand have a look in our Backroom-->Tutorials-->User tutorials. To create rounded (curved) edges, clip your terrain (about 6 to 8) in the terrain editor and use the airbrush to add or to dig parts as you like. Use a soft flow. Hope this helps:-) Guitta
