I think it is possible to detect...I remember doing some digging in php and http...and there were some functions that you could call that gave you a lot of real generic info about an end user's machine. It might not have been the most detailed set of data, but Browser version (which is often mis-interpreted for mozilla fans), OS as well as Java and cookies enabled (or not) were also part of the list of return values. I don't remember where these routines actually got the info, so it might not be 100% reliable, but there are some methods for getting the info. Of course, the little database site I put together simply has a disclaimer that cookies must be enabled or else:) It's good to be god (even if it is only for a very puny little database driven web site:) eric
